As 2011 comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the year that has been.
There have been highs and lows, but looking back I realise that all the challenges I encountered along the way, just made the successes so much more enjoyable and rewarding. I have learnt many lessons. I have grown as an athlete and a person. I have been blessed in so many ways and I have so much to be thankful for!
Here are some of my favourite moments in 2011:
My first European podium, I won the queen of the mountains jersey and finished 6th overall at Emakumeen Bira Tour in Spain.
Daily training rides with hubby, Carl, in beautiful Italy.
Pasio family holiday in Italy; enjoying dinner at a street festival in a quaint Tuscan village.
My mom, Frances, visited me at my home in Castronno, Italy.
Winning the queen of the mountains jersey and coming 2nd overall at Tour de Ardeche and having my Dad, Johan, there to support.
Wearing the green and gold for the first time; representing South Africa at the UCI World Championships 2011 in Copenhagen, Demark.
Travelling to Eritrea to represent South Africa at the African Continental Championships.
What a wonderful and happy year 2011 has been. A special thanks to my amazing family, friends, sponsors and supporters for the love and support in 2011!
Wishing everyone a very happy 2012!
