I’m proud to announce that I will be riding for Lotto Bellisol women’s team in 2012! This will be my third year riding for Dany Schoonbaert’s Lotto team.
There are some new exciting changes taking place with in the team!
Firstly we will be taking on the same sponsors and equipment as the men’s Lotto Bellisol team. This is thanks to our great friend, Guy Kosterman’s, known to all of us girls as the Bellisol man. Guy is very supportive of our women’s team. He often comes on tour with us to support our racing and we really appreciate his efforts and support!
Secondly the structure of our team will be changing somewhat. The team will remain a Belgium registered team, with the majority of the riders being Belgium, but there will be a strong South African influence next year. I’m particularly excited about this!
The profile and standard of South African women’s cycling has lifted in the past two years. With some of us getting more international exposure lately, we are really starting to become competitive internationally. The South African women on Lotto Bellisol next year are Jo van de Winkel, Cherise Taylor, Robyn de Groot and I. We will be joined by Lise Olivier and Anli Pretorius, the two new comers for 2012. I look forward racing internationally with my five South African team mates.
Next year is a big year with London Olympics fast approaching. I’m really happy to be staying in an environment where I am happy and settled for this year. I couldn’t think of anywhere better to be for 2012, than with my Lotto family 🙂
Thanks to all involved in making this project a success; Roy Gershow and Cycling South Africa in particular! Without there support and forward thinking, South African women’s cycling wouldn’t be where it is today!
