I finished 2nd overall and won the climbing jersey at Tour de l’Ardeche, UCI 2.2 race! Emma Pooley (Garmin Cervelo) won the tour overall and Christel Ferrier Bruneau finished third. The tour finished this past Saturday, 10 September.
Tour de l’Ardeche was one of the races I targeted from the beginning of the year and after narrowly missing many of the goals I set out for myself this year, I am happy to have at last achieved one of them!
Tour de l’Ardeche takes place in the Rhone Alps region of France and includes some very tough climbing, in a beautiful area of France. It is one of my favourite races on the women’s UCI calendar.
The field at this year’s tour was one of the toughest yet, with both Garmin Cervelo and HTC Highroad participating and I am very happy to have finished second.
Fellow South African and team mate Joanna van de Winkel finished 10th on the general classification.
Some highlights from the tour:
My Dad, Johan Moolman, came all the way from South Africa to watch me race. It was wonderful having him and stepmom, Sandy Moolman there to support!
I finished 2nd, 6 seconds behind winner, Emilia Fahlin (HTC Highroad), in the very technical Individual Time Trial, Stage 3.
Beautiful French sunset to finish off a great week of racing!
