My goal for this year’s Trophee d’Or Feminin was to race aggressively and to use the tour as preparation for GP Plouay Bretagne World Cup. This is exactly what I did!
The tour was predominantly flat; however stage 3 and 4 did include some short, steep climbs. I used this to my advantage and went into these stages with the objective to wear the polka dot climbing jersey.
Although I came very close, I unfortunately did not win the climbing points competition. I finished 2nd to Marianne Vos, currently the top ranked women’s cyclist in the world.
I did however get the chance to wear the polka dot jersey for the final three stages of the tour, as Marianne Vos was also leading the sprinting point’s competition. She wore the green sprinters jersey and I wore the polka dot jersey!
